Viennese doctors decry widening hospitals' deficit

Vienna's doctors chamber (WAK) has reacted with alarm to the growing deficit of the city's hospitals. For years the chamber has been warning of the threatening financial collapse of the Vienna health service, said WAK chairman Walter Dorner in a statement issued today. "That the deficit this year of the Viennese Hospitals Association is estimated to be as high as some Euro70m [$90m] has highlighted the desperate need for reform," he added.
