Ensuring Europe offers consistently high standards of healthcare:
This article was originally published in Clinica
There is an urgent need in Europe to deliver a consistent standard of healthcare to individuals in all EU countries in terms of education, competence, codes of practice and clinical outcomes. That was the thrust of a policy statement made by Health First Europe (HFE), the voluntary platform of stakeholders, including professionals, patients and industry, at the annual Open Health Forum held by the European Commission's Directorate General Health and Consumer Protection (DG Sanco). There is also a real need to develop European accreditation mechanisms that comply with well-established global frameworks. In its policy statement, HFE is calling for: better healthcare in the EU; innovation of healthcare therapies and access processes; continual quality improvement and investment in healthcare's human resources.
