San Antonio, Texas-based medtech company Kinetic Concepts (KCI) took a beating at the end of last week after the company announced that a competing wound healing device, BlueSky Medical's Versatile wound vacuum system, has received the same reimbursement code as KCI's vacuum assisted closure (VAC) therapy product. The decision, made by the US Centres for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), will take effect at the start 2006.
