Executive Summary
Vascular Solutions has received US FDA 510(k) clearance for a next generation version of its Pronto extraction catheter, a device designed for the percutaneous removal of soft thrombi from arteries. The V3 version of the device incorporates a fully braided construction, hydrophilic coating and a consistently large extraction lumen, said the Minneapolis, Minnesota firm, which plans to launch the device in the US and in Europe next month. "We believe that the V3 will open a much wider opportunity for us within the $100m soft thrombus extraction US market," said Howard Root, the firm's CEO.
