European medical technology association Eucomed has appointed Drago Cerchiari as chairman of the board of directors, with immediate effect, replacing Michel Darnaud (president Europe, Boston Scientific, until June 30). Dr Cerchiari, CEO of the Sorin Group, the largest EU-based cardiovascular device specialist, is marketing-trained, with comprehensive healthcare management experience; he is on the board of Italian association Assobiomedica. Eucomed has also been joined by Soren Mellstig (president and CEO, Gambro), Werner Braun (managing director, Biotronik) and Guy Lebeau (company group chairman, J&J). Barry Wilson (Medtronic) and Dianne Blanco (Baxter) have stepped down.
