The government of the Indian state of Calcutta has earmarked funds of Rs70 crores (US$16m) and 20 acres for a 1,000 bed cancer hospital that will provide state of the art chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Renowned cardiac surgeon and chairman of the Asia Heart Foundation (AHF) Devi Shetty heads the project. An eye hospital, kidney treatment centre and children's hospital will be built onto the complex at a later date, reports EHM News Bureau - KolKata.
