Executive Summary
The Guildford Medical Device Evaluation Centre (GMEC), one of the pathology evaluation laboratories supporting the UK's Device Evaluation Centre (DES), is setting up an Analyser Monitoring Programme to report on the long-term reliability and maintenance requirements of analysers. A network of pathology laboratories - 10 for each analyser - is being set up as AMP partners. These are due to report on a monthly basis to the GMEC, which will publish regular reports on its findings. The programme will include on-site analysers that are less than six years old and perform a broad selection of tests, with a medium/large throughput.
