John Williams has been re-appointed as chairman of the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency's Committee on the Safety of Devices. He is due to serve for a further four-year term, from April 1. Mr Williams is a consultant surgeon in maxillofacial surgery. A wealth of experience in the UK's medical arena includes as former vice-president and dean of the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) of England. He is currently chairman of the RCS' working group on the use of assistance in surgical practice and was recently appointed president of the Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois-based International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
