Smith & Nephew has appointed former BP CFO John Buchanan as non-executive director and deputy chairman. Mr Buchanan is also a non-executive director of Vodafone Group, AstraZeneca and BHP Billiton, and was a member of the UK Accounting Standards Board from 1997 to 2001.
