Idaho Technologies, a Salt Lake City, Utah-based developer of thermocycling technology for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) experiments, has gained non-exclusive, worldwide rights to patents covering PCR owned by Roche Diagnostics, enabling it to make, use and sell products using PCR for in vitro diagnostics. Idaho's developments of thermocycling instrumentation include its own RAPID and RAZOR instruments, as well as the LightCycler system, developed and produced for Basel, Switzerland-based Roche.
