WHO: public health needs "massive new investment"

The world must immediately and massively increase the investment in health programmes to achieve the Millennium Development Goals [MDGs]" in areas that range from HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB, to child and maternal healthcare. This is the stark message of a status report by the UN's independent advisory body, the Millennium Project, published during the launch of this week's meeting of the World Health Organization's executive board (January 17-25).
