The Society of Cardiac Computed Tomography (SCCT) is the name of a new association that will operate as the US focal point for the promotion and advocacy of, and education and research on, the emerging field of noninvasive cardiology. The need for an association was encapsulated by Cardiac Imaging at Cedars Sinai Medical (LA) director Daniel Berman. Speaking after the January 8 promulgation meeting, he said: "Cardiac CT scanning promises to revolutionise the approach to accurate diagnosis of patients with coronary artery disease. But exactly how, and when to use it, is not yet clear."
