UK start-up firm Prosthetic Solutions is gearing up to submit to the US FDA an application for the approval of its novel prosthetic adhesive. The silicone-based adhesive, called Zeflosil, is used to attach prostheses to the skin, and in bonding systems used in colostomy treatment. Zeflosil is highly durable and able to maintain long-term fixation in changes of environment, and comes with a matched adhesive remover said the Bradford firm. The product was CE-marked for sale in Europe in July 2006. Prosthetic Solutions is based at Bradford University's "Bioscience Business Incubator" unit at its Institute of Pharmaceutical Innovation (IPI).
