December 20 2006 is the deadline for comments on whether the European standard EN 980 on medical device symbols should be merged with international symbols standard ISO 15223. The European standards committee on symbols, CEN TC 257 Working Group 2 and the international standards committee whose remit includes symbols, ISO TC 210 WG3 are both considering the issue.
