Executive Summary
The emphasis on consultation with industry in the latest joint agency meeting has already paid off, Faye Sumner, CEO of the medical industry association of New Zealand (MIANZ), has told Clinica. "Already this has produced the announcement that third-party conformity certification for domestic companies will be recognised," she said. However, she remains cautious in her expectations: "It is encouraging, but we await the details. There have to be further changes to the current rules before MIANZ can support the draft [ANZTPA] legislation," she said. In this, she echoes the sentiments of her Australian counterpart, Brian Vale (see Clinica No 1222, p 14).
