Swiss orthopaedics company Synthes has reported a 14% increase in first-half sales, to $1.2bn. Second-quarter revenues were up by 13% to $591m. Meanwhile, net earnings rose by 8% to $243m. The Solothurn-based company, which reports in US dollars (65% of sales were in North America in the first half), said new product introductions across its portfolio and new selling initiatives were behind the growth.
