The German social court in Nuremberg has this week ruled that the sickness funds are liable for 16% VAT on nutrition products. Neither the supplier nor the sickness fund, as end user, can claim exemption from sales tax, according to the judgement of July 7. Enteral nutrition has generally benefited from a lower sales tax in the past.
