UK adverse incident trend reverses in 2005

Executive Summary

Of the 7,862 adverse incident reports received by the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) during 2005, 2.8% involved a fatality and 16.9% a serious injury. A further 26.4% prompted in-depth MHRA investigations, and 28.7% were investigated by manufacturers under MHRA supervision. These are the figures released by the MHRA in its Adverse Incident Reports 2005 Device Bulletin.
