Executive Summary
Synergetics USA is broadening the use of its Sonopet Omni ultrasonic bone aspirator to the spinal and ear, nose and throat (ENT) markets. It has introduced for use with the aspirator a longer length tip, called Spetzler Long Claw, which will allow surgeons to reach new depths, thus expanding the number of potential surgical applications for which the ultrasonic technology can be used. The O'Fallon, Missouri firm said that the new tip gave it the opportunity to target additional markets both "inside and outside" of neurosurgery. Synergetics USA is the product of the September 2005 merger of Valley Forge Scientific and Synergetics.
