China will boost its disease diagnostics R&D with a new centre. The State Infectious Disease Diagnosis and Vaccine Engineering Technology Research Center is to be based at Xiamen city in the south-eastern province of Fujian. Diagnostics and reagent research will take place at a new facility measuring 6,000 square metres; the projects conducted at the new site will accelerate the development and industrialisation of China's medical sector, says the Ministry of Science and Technology.
