Diomed and SonoSite have forged a three-year joint marketing alliance with the aim of promoting the use of hand-carried ultrasound and laser-based venous ablation technologies to diagnose and treat varicose veins. Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will offer joint doctor training and education programmes, as well as participate in co-marketing activities. SonoSite, of Bothell, Washington, develops hand-carried ultrasound systems that can be used to diagnose venous disease while Andover, Massachusetts-based Diomed's EVLT (EndoVenous Laser Treatment) is designed as a minimally-invasive ablation treatment for varicose veins.
