CR Bard has issued a worldwide recall of its ventral hernia repair product, the Composix Kugel mesh X-large patch. The action follows a total of 24 reports that the device's plastic coil ring, used to facilitate its deployment, broke, possibly as it was not able to withstand the increased stress associated with certain surgical placement techniques.
