Executive Summary
The industry trends survey compiled quarterly by German trade association, Spectaris, shows for the third quarter of 2005 that a mood of tempered optimism prevails among medtech companies. Of 50 companies who answered the latest survey, half predicted an increase in domestic orders, compared with 15% who said they saw a slowing in the intake of orders. The trend in orders from other countries was better, with 67% predicting an upturn and only 13% seeing a downturn. The number of companies predicting a worse order intake is lower still (11%) when the whole of Europe is considered. On the other hand, 49% predicted a stagnation of orders coming from Asia.
