I-Flow has received US FDA 510(k) clearance to market a silver-coated version of its ON-Q pain-relief catheter. The ON-Q SilverSoaker device is treated with the antimicrobial silver agent, SilvaGard, licensed from Portland, Oregon-based firm AcryMed. Silver is an established antimicrobial that is effective against a wide variety of micro-organisms, including bacteria and fungi, which may cause infections, said Lake Forest, California-based I-Flow.
