Executive Summary

The US FDA has granted 510(k) clearance for the Sea Dragon torque device developed by Merit Medical Systems. The device is used to enhance manipulation of the tips of guidewires, the flexible springs used to introduce and position angiographic catheters. The Sea Dragon is designed specifically for use with hydrophilic guide wires. South Jordan, Utah-based Merit said that it expects to release the product in the US in January.
