The D3 haematology system, an automatic three-part differential haematology analyser developed by Drew Scientific, has received 510(k) clearance from the US FDA. The D3 requires a very small sample size, to minimise laboratory waste, and has a built-in touch screen, which can store up to 500 records and QC statistics. US shipments of the device are expected to start by the end of December. Diagnostics company Drew Scientific is a subsidiary of Wayne, Pennsylvania-based Escalon Medical.
