Alcon initiates $1.1bn share buyback plan

The directors of eye care specialist Alcon have approved a new share repurchase scheme that will see it regain up to $1.1bn of shares from its majority shareholder Nestle. Alcon is aiming to commence the year-long repurchasing programme in the first quarter of fiscal 2008.
