Alvaro Rodrigues Martins has been appointed president of Brazil's leading association for the clinical pathology and laboratory medicine sectors (Sociedade Brasileira de Patologia Clinica / Medicina Laboratorial - SBPC/ML), effective January 1 2008. Mr Rodrigues Martins, currently the association's vice-president, is based in Sao Paulo city, where he holds top clinical pathology posts at the Santa Casa and Assuncao (Sao Bernardo do Campo) hospitals. The SBPC/ML has just confirmed plans to hold a second annual meeting on laboratory sector management, as part of its 41st annual pathology sector congress, which takes place on June 10-13, as a parallel event to the Hospitalar 2008 medtech trade fair, in Sao Paulo.
