Italy's Emilia Romagna region has secured more than E45.4m ($66m) in extra capital investment for its hospitals network. This 2007 "integral agreement" - a mechanism enshrined in 1988 legislation (law 67/1988) enabling each of the regions to access a special capped investment fund - is the third and last allocation of a modernisation programme comprising eight major projects. Six hospitals are its main beneficiaries: Piacenza, Castel San Giovanni, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Ravenna and Cesena.
