German firm Berlin Heart has kicked off a prospective study for its Excor paediatric ventricular assist device. The multicentre investigational device exemption (IDE) study is to evaluate the safety and probable benefit of using Excor Paediatric as a mechanical cardiac support system for critically ill children with severe heart failure.
