Lumen's FiberNet and Xtract anti-thrombotic devices:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Lumen Biomedical, of Plymouth, Minnesota, has CE-marked its FiberNet Embolic Protection System (EPS) and Xtract Aspiration Catheter for sale in Europe. Intended for patients with vascular disease, the FiberNet EPS is a matrix of fibres designed to capture microscopic debris released during stent placement in a narrowed carotid artery, and prevent it travelling to the brain. The FiberNet filter is then retracted into its own retrieval catheter under aspiration, and removed from the patient. The Xtract catheter is used to remove fresh, soft emboli or thrombi from arteries. It is easily manoeuvred through a patient's vasculature with a braided, flexible shaft and a soft curved tip. The Xtract device is available in three sizes, making it the largest catheter of this type to reach market.
