Speeding up medical device trade between Taiwan and Switzerland is the aim of a newly-inked agreement. A reduction of time-consuming and expensive application procedures is among the advantages of the -Taiwan-Swiss Technical Co-operation in Medical Devices". For example, if a Swiss manufacturing site has already been assessed and approved by a recognised assessment body, Taiwan will not require another assessment of the site. Similarly, if a Taiwanese device has the CE mark, additional inspection of the factory site will not be required. The two markets will also exchange information on device failures. The signing took place at the end of August by Liao Chi-chou (director general, Taiwan Bureau of Pharmaceutical Affairs) and Jost Feer (director, Trade Office of Swiss Industries), overseen by Taiwanese minister of health Hou Sheng-mou.
