Executive Summary
In a bid to strengthen its position in the healthcare IT market, Philips Medical Systems is acquiring Ximis, a 50-strong, El Paso, Texas-based company specialising in radiology information systems (RIS) technology. Ximis' flagship product, XIRIS, is a multilingual, web-based RIS used by hospitals of various sizes across Europe and the Americas. The system, designed to streamline workflow, reduce paperwork and errors at radiology facilities, complements Philips' iSite PACS product which concentrates on image management and distribution, said the Dutch electronics multinational. The acquisition, of which the financial details were not disclosed, is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2007.
