Plymouth, Minnesota-based ev3 has CE-marked for sale in Europe its Axium detachable coil system for the endovascular embolisation of intracranial aneurysms and other neurovascular abnormalities such as arteriovenous malformations and arteriovenous fistulae. The device is also indicated for use in the treatment of peripheral vascular abnormalities. It is estimated that around one in 15 people in the US will develop a cerebral aneurysm during their lifetime, said the firm.
