Gynecor, Cook partner to offer "faster, gentler" diagnosis of endometrial cancer:
This article was originally published in Clinica
Executive Summary
US-based anatomic pathology lab Gynecor is to offer Cook Medical's Tao brush, a device used to collect endometrial tissue samples, to obstetricians and gynaecologists in the US and the UK, following an exclusive distribution deal. The Tao brush, which forms an integral part of Gynecor's TruTest endometrial biopsy kit, uses a gentle brushing technique to minimise patient discomfort and reduce potential damage to the uterus, as well as to procure an adequate tissue sample for diagnosis. According to Cook, the Tao brush is able to sample up to 60% of the endometrial lining, compared to the 4% collected by conventional suction-based biopsy methods. The brush and tissue specimen are then sent to Gynecor's labs (four in the US, one in the UK) for processing and interpretation.
