Fernando Gabilondo Navarro has been appointed director-general of Mexico's INCMN institute of medical and nutritional sciences, in a move that features the institute's new role in overseeing the development of the country's network of regional "high-specialty hospitals" (HAEs). During his five-year tenure he will be responsible for the construction of 13 HAEs, on top of the five that have been recently established. The appointment was made by the commission responsible for co-ordinating the country's 12 national health institutes (INSs) and the HAEs programme, on behalf of the health ministry. The commission is headed by Julio Sotelo Morales.
