OraSure Technologies has CE-marked for sale in Europe its OraQuick Advance HIV-1/2 antibody test, which it claims is the only rapid HIV test bearing a CE mark that can be used with oral fluid, as well as with blood. The test is also the only US FDA-approved and CLIA-waived rapid point-of-care test that can detect antibodies to both HIV-1 and HIV-2 in around 20 minutes, using oral fluid, fingerstick or venipuncture whole blood and plasma specimens, noted the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania firm.
