The £8bn ($15.8bn) extra funding going to the NHS in England and Wales this year will provide for an additional 390,000 operations and a range of quality initiatives, according to the UK Department of Health. The Local spending for local needs report released today seeks to deflect criticism that the budget increases designed to make up for historic NHS under-investment have been largely misspent.
