San Diego, California-based SpectraScience has arranged a distribution deal to sell its WavSTAT optical biopsy system for gastro-enterologists in Europe. A newly formed southern European organisation, called SpectraScience Endoscopy EU (SSEEU), will distribute the cancer screening device. SSEEU "is a well-financed consortium of individuals with extensive experience in medical device markets", said the company. WavSTAT is FDA approved for detecting colon cancer, and is in clinical trials for the detection of Barrett's oesophagus.
