AdvaMed concerned about laboratory test bidding

The Bush Administration's proposal to establish a competitive bidding programme for diagnostic tests is "particularly troubling", according to the US device industry. The proposal was included in President Bush's 2008 budget, which received a mixed response from device industry association AdvaMed. Stephen Ubl, AdvaMed's president, welcomed President Bush's increase of funding for the FDA, which, Mr Ubl said, would maintain a balance between user fees and appropriated funds in the device centre (CDRH).
