Executive Summary
Esa Leppanen has been named as the new head of the Finnish medical device authority within the Finnish National Agency for Medicines. Mr Leppanen takes up in mid-January the position that was vacated by Petri Pommelin in October _ see Clinica No 1228, p 8. (Mr Pommelin took up a post as a development manager at the Pirkanmaa District Hospital in Tampere after 15 years with the medical devices agency.) The new head's background is in clinical chemistry. Having recently headed a clinical laboratory Mr Leppanen also has experience in the field of nuclear medicine.
