Confident that China will assent to the permanent presence of US FDA officers by May 2008, health secretary Mike Leavitt has announced that Christopher Hickey has been chosen to head up the China office. Mr Hickey is currently director of the Asia and Pacific office at the department of health and human services in Washington DC.
