Executive Summary
The FDA last week told manufacturers of medical devices containing, or coated with, the blood thinner heparin to check if the drug was contaminated. The US regulator raised the alarm after it discovered that 62 patients had died since January 2007 as a result of allergic reactions to contaminated heparin.
