Israeli laser-based treatment specialist Lumenis is suing four former employees and the company they founded, Alma Lasers, for allegedly stealing trade secrets relating to Lumenis' technology and incorporating it into Alma's line of products. Yokneam-based Lumenis claims that certain core elements of Alma's Harmony aesthetic laser- and light-based products, designed for various skin rejuvenation applications, are "virtually identical" to Lumenis components that were developed around the time the founders of Alma left Lumenis. The four individuals had each been involved in the development of Lumenis technology and products. Lumenis is seeking to block Alma from using this core technology in its products, which are sold worldwide. It is also demanding ILS200m ($56.3m) in damages based on the profits earned by Alma from the sale of its Harmony products.
