This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

In a bid to expand and strengthen its operations, Medifiq Healthcare, the Vantaa, Finland-based healthcare product design and manufacturing company, has agreed to acquire medical device contract manufacturer Medisize Medical for E65m ($98.6m). This will bring together Medifiq's expertise in fast and high precision product development and Medisize's engineering and mass production skills in devices, packing and airway management products, said Medifiq chairman Lauri Ratia. The combined company will have net sales of E103m and be led by current Medisize Medical CEO Willem van den Bruinhorst. The acquisition will also expand Medifiq's geographic presence. Aside from two sites in Finland, the company has operations in the UK and China. Medisize Medical, a division of the Swiss-based Medisize Holding, has subsidiaries and partners in several countries across Europe and Asia.
