Medtronic appoints new cardiology head

Executive Summary
Medtronic has appointed Michael Coyle executive vice-president and group president of its cardiology businesses, which include cardiac rhythm disease management (CRDM), cardiovascular and Physio-Control. Mr Coyle, who has over 25 years' experience in the medical devices industry, will also become a member of the executive committee and report to chairman and CEO Bill Hawkins. Prior to this appointment, Mr Coyle was a consultant to private equity, venture capital and medtech companies. Before that, he held senior management roles at Medtronic's cardiology rival, St Jude Medical.
