Lithuania has joined a growing list of states that are acting, either nationally or regionally, on concerns about the health risks of asbestos in buildings. The authorities for the city of Panev??ys, in the north of the country, have launched a programme to survey the presence of the grade-1 carcinogen in all buildings, private and public, with a view to removing it from them, Clinica has learnt.
