Ash Attia has joined MicroMed Cardiovascular, the Houston, Texas-based developer of the HeartAssist 5 left ventricular assist device (LVAD), as vice-president of Asia-Pacific. He will be responsible for launching and managing the commercialisation of the HeartAssist 5 in the region. Mr Attia has over 20 years' experience in the cardiovascular sector. Prior to MicroMed, Mr Attia held a similar position at Ventracor, the troubled Australian LVAD manufacturer which was recently liquidated after filing for bankruptcy in March (www.clinica.co.uk, March 24 2009).
