Australia's breast screening programme has achieved a 60% 10-year increase in the proportion of invasive cancers detected while still small, the government has announced. These and other detection and screening uptake data contained in the Breast Screen Australia monitoring report 2005-06, released today, were billed as measures of the success of the programme, which was launched in 1991.
