Implantable contact lens developer STAAR Surgical has appointed Richard (Randy) Meier to its board of directors. Mr Meier was the former president and COO of Advanced Medical Optics (AMO), and served in that role until the company was bought by Abbott in February this year. Monrovia, California-based STAAR is looking to benefit from Mr Meier's knowledge of the international and capital markets to improve the firm's shareholder value.
